Guess What — Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how YWARE handles data in the Guess What mobile app for iOS and Android. Guess What is a pass-and-play party game designed to work offline: it requires no account, shows no ads and collects as little data as technically possible.

Last updated: 6 July 2026

1. Who are we?

YWARE is responsible (controller) for the processing of personal data as described in this privacy statement.

Contact details:
YWARE
Email address: hallo@yware.nl
Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number: 90838823
Registered office location: Arnhem

2. Data that stays on your device

Almost everything the app stores never leaves your phone:

  • Game settings (language, sound, difficulty, timers)
  • Team and player names you type during setup
  • Game progress (scores, rounds, word history)
  • Unlocked deck packs (a local list of your purchases)

This data is stored only in the app's local storage on your device. It is never transmitted to YWARE or anyone else, and it is deleted when you uninstall the app. The tilt controls in Forehead Flash use your phone's motion sensor; those sensor readings are processed on the device in real time and are never recorded or transmitted.

3. Crash reporting (Sentry)

To find and fix bugs, the app uses Sentry, a crash-reporting service. When the app crashes or encounters an error, the following may be sent to Sentry:

  • Technical crash details (the error and where in the code it happened)
  • Device model, operating system version and app version
  • Your IP address (used to receive the report; not used to identify you)
  • A short replay of the app screens around the moment of the error, to help us reproduce the problem

Purpose: diagnosing and fixing crashes and errors.
Legal basis: legitimate interest in keeping the app stable and functional.
Crash data is sent to Sentry's EU data region (Germany) and is automatically deleted after at most 90 days. It is never used for advertising or profiling.

4. In-app purchases

Some deck packs can be bought as one-time in-app purchases. Payments are handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play):

  • YWARE never receives your name, address or payment details.
  • The stores tell the app only which packs were bought, so they can be unlocked. This entitlement is stored locally on your device.
  • Purchases are linked to your Apple or Google account; you can restore them on a new device via Settings → Restore Purchases in the app.

Apple and Google act as independent controllers for the payment itself — their privacy policies apply to the transaction: Apple Privacy Policy, Google Privacy Policy.

5. What we do not collect

The app contains no:

  • user accounts or registration
  • advertising or advertising SDKs
  • analytics or tracking across apps and websites
  • access to your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone

6. Who do we share data with?

YWARE does not sell personal data. Data is shared only with:

  • Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) — crash reporting, as a processor, using the EU data region (see section 3)
  • Apple / Google — payment processing for in-app purchases, as independent controllers (see section 4)

7. How long do we keep data?

YWARE itself keeps no databases of app users. Crash reports at Sentry are deleted automatically after at most 90 days. Data stored locally on your device remains until you delete it or uninstall the app.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to withdraw consent. Because the app collects almost no personal data, in practice this mainly concerns crash reports. Send your request to hallo@yware.nl and we will respond within four weeks.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

9. Children

Guess What is suitable for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal data from children. Purchases are protected by the parental-control and purchase-approval features of the App Store and Google Play (such as Ask to Buy).

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy, for example when the app gains new features. The most recent version is always available on this page; the date at the top shows when it was last changed.
